South Korea to purchase four spy planes sophisticated U.S.

Korea plans to buy four planes sophisticated unmanned Global Hawk to boost defenses against nuclear threats and potential missiles from North Korea.



Yonhap news agency on 1/11 , citing an official from the agency in charge of defense procurement Korea ( DAPA ) said that Seoul plans to purchase surveillance aircraft capable of operating at high altitudes and long flight Buy through programs for foreign arms sales ( FMS ) of the U.S. or government contracts .
If Washington DAPD accepted for mailing this year , the agency will start the process of procurement in early 2014 , the official added.
If agreed , a total of 4 Global Hawk will be deployed on the Korean peninsula in 2017 .
Global Hawk is a spy plane of the U.S. unmanned , the Northrop Grumman Corporation built. It has a range of activities within a radius of 3,000 kilometers , can fly continuously for up to 42 hours at an altitude of 20 km .
Planning on shopping in an effort to establish a defense system for the early detection and interception of missiles or nuclear attack from North Korea .
In early October , South Korea and the U.S. have agreed to implement pre-emptive military action if signs of nuclear attack by North Korea is detected .
