Indonesia demanded an explanation of U.S. wiretapping case

Indonesia on 30/10 has expressed strong opposition to the U.S. after Washington said a report monitored telephone calls and electronic communications networks from the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, in the context of concrete given eavesdropping spread to Asia.


Australia's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper on 29/10 reported that a secret map is a former CIA officer Edward Snowden revealed that 90 eavesdropping facilities located in the United States embassies and consulates around the world .

" Indonesia unacceptable and strongly opposed by the news of wiretapping facilities at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta ," said Natalegawa said in a statement .
" If that information is authenticated , such actions not only violate security but also seriously violate the principles , ethics and diplomacy is certainly not suitable for friendly relations between nations ," statement added.
The Herald said the secret map also shows that the basis of intelligence at the U.S. embassy in Kuala Lumpur , Bangkok , Phnom Penh and Yangon .
The article said , the eavesdropping of U.S. base in East Asia has focused on China , with the center at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and the U.S. Consulates in other cities .
According to the map , which the Herald said the Der Spiegel published on 29/10 , a group of National Security Agency ( NSA ) - the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency ( CIA ) , known as "Service revenues special collection " , was responsible for extensive monitoring program .
The newspaper said the maps were originally published on the website of all the weekly Der Spiegel , but was later replaced with a censored version .
Modern U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is yet to comment on the report .
